GOLD ROUTE BIKE

Welcome to XVIII century Brazil. For 100 years these routes were the richest productive axis of the young country that was still in its consolidation process. Passing through historical cities like Our Preto, Tiradentes and São João del Rei, on foot or riding a bike, unmask every detail of these pathways, which speak so much of our history.

Day 1 – At the company of our staff historian, stroll through Ouro Preto’s historical center, unravelling its secrets.
Day 2 – Cycle through the charming Custódio pathway, in the Itacolomi Estate Park, and visit the Museu do Chá (tea museum) and Casa Bandeirista.
Day 3 – Travel through an original stretch of the Estrada Real (royal road) leaving from Itatiaia village reaching one of the regions highest points. Have some lunch at the same farm used as refuge by horsemen.
Day 4 – Pedal by the ancient train track to the city of Prados and than return to Tiradentes passing through the village of Bichinho. Visit its wonderful arts and crafts center and savor the flavors of the delicious “mineira” cuisine.
Day 5 – Go back in time in a steam engine train which comes and goes between Tiradentes and São João del Rei. Cycle from the train station to the legendary John Somers’s, the “king of tin” farm to enjoy a delicious lunch.
Day 6 – Relax by the pool at Solar da Ponte Hotel and return home completely refreshed.

HOTEL: Pousada do Mondego  - Ouro Preto
Situated on the geodesic center of the former village of Vila Rica, Pousada do Mondego reflects the dignity and charms of Ouro Preto. A great 1747 colonial mansion, residence of journalist Theódulo Pereira's family and his wife, Conceiçao Marchetti Pereira for almost half a century, its restoration and transformation into a Hotel lasted long 14 years.

Perfectly integrated into the historical scenery of Tiradentes and participating in the Charm Scripts Guide, it was idealized by an English owner. GOLD ROUTE WALK

Day 2 – Discover the treks of Espinhaço in the town’s outskirts with excellent located viewpoints and have lunch on a distant farm to help rest and recharge your batteries.
Day 3 – Walk through the charming Custódio dam pathway, in the Itacolomi Estate Park, and visit the Museu do Chá (tea museum) and Casa Bandeirista.
Day 4 - Travel through beautiful pathways of the Estrada Real (royal road) reaching one of the regions highest points, from which you can see the city of Ouro Branco. Have some lunch on the same farm used as refuge by horsemen.
